This is a quickie ‘Call for Art” announcement!

You may have received an email regarding the Montgomery Museum of Art & History participating in the GiveLocal NRV Celebration  and Giving Day on Thursday June 26, 2024. The GiveLocal NRV Celebration presents an opportunity for guests to contribute to the Montgomery Museum’s fundraising goal of $60,000.

To this end we are reaching out to you, our artist Museum Members, to participate in a unique fundraising event. We are asking for miniature art, (Maximum of 4 ¾” wide x 3 ¾” high x 12″depth ), each piece will be placed in one of the empty safe deposit boxes in the vault. Guests on the day will pay/donate $100 to select one of the box keys, open the box, and find the art surprise that is inside! They will  go home with a unique piece of art, and you will have helped contribute to the fundraising at the Museum. There is a small budget for this project.

For those interested, the parameters are as follows:

  • The work needs to be small enough to fit in boxes that are 4 ¾” wide x 3 ¾” high, not necessarily standing upright. Original art is preferred, but you can also propose  bookmarks, cards, magnets etc. The item may be folded or rolled, as as that doesn’t dame it and fit in the box to a depth of 12″
  • Please submit a proposal of your contribution, and we will work with you on a case-by-case basis for a certain amount of financial recompense to cover materials, expenses etc., or you can ask us to purchase the materials such as small canvases.

Please click here if you are interested. Time is running out, so we would like the finished pieces to be dropped off at the museum no later than Jun 24, 2024

You may include your business card with the creations, and any marketing material you like. Your name will also be listed on the program and Web site.

In addition to this fundraiser is the much-anticipated opening of the Appalachian-themed Children’s Corner titled “An Appalachian Childhood” from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Families and children are invited to an Appalachian themed “Storytime with Joelle” from 2:30 – 3:00 PM, while enjoying free ice cream treats provided by the museum. Then from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM there will be a reception with light refreshments and wine to celebrate the Art + History of the areas. This features many historical items, including a tractor on the lobby floor, and agricultural-themed art from nine local artists. Let’s add your name to this list!
