Collecting is central to museums. The objects in this collection are physical items that can be studied. They inspire us to investigate, question, and learn. Founded in 1983 the Montgomery Museum of Art and History has collected objects that reflect the rich history of Montgomery County. The museum currently owns over 3,000 objects, along with several thousand more photographs, documents, and books.
The first Exhibit in our new location seeks to celebrate the generous donors who have helped build the collection during the museum’s nearly 40 years of service. The collection is the heart of this museum. Reflecting the major changes for the museum this year, the exhibit showcases objects that illustrate the central notion of history: change though time.
