The Montgomery Museum is a nonprofit organization chartered in 1983 for the purpose of collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Montgomery County, Virginia and the region. Additionally, the museum and art center promotes and understanding of the role of art and artists in the region primarily through the exhibition of work of regional artists. The museum's library is an archive of books, documents, and genealogical information, and photographs useful to researchers.A collection of documents represents the development of Montgomery County.

Heritage Day 2016

Many thanks to all those who helped make Heritage Day 2015 a success. We hope you will "Lend a Hand" again in 2016. WE are encouraging the community to come help with planning. We will be meeting the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 at the museum. We need your input.

Silent Auction

Would you consider gifting the Museum? We are collecting silent auction items for our annual fundraising event at Heritage Day. Almost anything that is new or almost new or is an antique can be auctioned or used in gift baskets. Also very welcome are gift baskets already made up. we would love to add you to our special list of Silent Auction donors.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are necessary to keep the museum open. Can you spare 3 hours once or twice a month? Join our family of volunteers by calling the director. 540-382-5644
  • Marketing Assistant (1-2 hours per week)
  • IT assistant (2-4 hours a month or as needed)
  • Website/Social Media Assistant (2-4 hours a month)
  • Docents (3-6 hours a month)
